Tanya Segleov was recently interviewed on ABC Radio Perth to discuss her most recent victory in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
Segelov Taylor Lawyers was approached by Ms Parkin following her diagnosis of mesothelioma in late 2019. On 27 August 2020, the court ordered James Hardie’s Amaca fund to pay more than $1.04 million in damages including a record $360,000 for general damages.
‘Up until recently, there has been a belief that general damages in Western Australia was much lower compared to other states such as New South Wales.’ Ms Segelov said.
In the first case in almost a decade to run to judgment, this case ensures asbestos victims, especially those in WA, are compensated in accordance to the standards of other states.
