We are looking for people who worked at the Bonds Coats Patons factory in Launceston between 1965 and 1990, in any job: production, maintenance, engineering, cleaning, or in the offices.
We act for the family of a man who worked there and later developed mesothelioma, a cancer caused by asbestos. He has died. Important evidence in a claim like this is the memories of the people who worked at the same factory alongside him and the records of the factory itself, so what you remember will matter, even if it seems minor to you.
What we would like to know
We seek a wide range of information including:
- Where asbestos was in the factory: lagging on pipes and boilers, insulation, gaskets, sheeting.
- Where were the boilers? How many boilers were there? What model of boilers were used?
- What the maintenance work was like and who did it.
- How dusty the factory was.
- How the operations changed through its Patons & Baldwins, then Coats Patons, then Bonds and Pacific Dunlop days.
- How were the buildings laid out?
- The names of contractors who came onto the site, and of other people who worked there.
- Photographs, pay records, union records, or anything else you kept.
What happens if you get in touch
You will speak with Ashleigh Trezise, a lawyer at this firm. The call would be short, would cost nothing (we are happy to call you), and would commit you to nothing. If what you remember is useful, we may ask whether you would provide a statement based on what you recall.
The case has a court date, so we would like to hear from you as soon as you can.
